Referral Process
Just as general practioners (G.P's) in human medicine can refer people to specialist doctors, general practioner veterinarians can refer their client's cats and dogs to other veterinarians in specified fields.
Warrick Bruce is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon with extensive training and experience and can perform surgeries that usually can't be carried out in a general veterinary practice.
If you would like to make an appointment at VetSOS or you think your pet would benefit by seeing an orthopaedic specialist here's the process.
1) Talk to your veterinarian about your pet and tell them you would like to be referred to a specialist.
2) Make an appointment at VetSOS. Your vet may do this on your behalf
3) Your vet will need to fill in a VetSOS referral form and all your pets relevant history and radiographs need to be sent to VetSOS
4) You will bring your pet to an initial consultation. At this time Warrick will discuss your pets options, costs and the expected outcome of any procedures
5) Your pet may be admitted at this time for further evaluation, tests, radiographs and/or surgery
6) At the time of discharge Warrick will discuss his findings with you and you will receive detailed discharge instructions and/or medications
7) Warrick will write a report and this will be sent to your vet so they have details of the findings and action taken.
8) If a follow-up appointment with VetSOS is needed this will be scheduled for you
